Lola's Goth Pop

  Hi guys!  I am taking a break from my school work to blog something from the World Goth Fair.  Even though World Goth Day was yesterday they shopping event is still going strong in SL.  One item I like from the event is this dress from Lolapop.  It's sexy but not over the top revealing.  It's a modest length, but there is a high side slit.  It shows a great deal of shoulder and back but there is a high collar.  It's a satiny material but with a leather look collar.  It has skulls but they are rainbow colored.  All the mix of dark and light, hard and whimsical, reminds me of the store's creator, who has become a friend of mine over the years.  Shes a goth from way back and a sweetheart.  A wonderful store with a wonderful creator, what a wonderful combination.  Wonderful!

Sugar For My Belly

  So, we all know that TSG has cute faces on their skin.  An example of this is below.  Even if you hate my avatar's shape and my photo taking skills you should still be able to see how nice of a skin this is.  Slightly realistic with a mostly "cartoon" appeal, freckle options, birthmark option, brow color options, no brow options, etc.  All awesome.  But maybe you might not know one very cool thing about the bodies.  (There will be a cut below because boobies is why.)

Tuli-billy

  Hello!  Man, am I slacking on blogging.  I have more things I want to blog than time.  When I start college this summer it's going to be even worse.  ARGH!  OK, sorry about complaining.  I just had to get that off my chest and also it explains why I am so slow on reporting new releases.  ANYWAY, moving on!
  I got this hair in the Megastuff Hunt from Jaryth's Barber Shop and even though it's meant for dudes I just loved it anyway.  girls can rock short hair just as well as guys.  Well, not my RL self, I look horrifying with short hair, but that's not SL so never mind. :P  I had never heard of this store before but I highly suggest men go check it out because there are some really unusual and interesting things, like beards and receding hair lines, etc.  Sweet!
  I got this Rockabilly Princess top from Fission around the same time as the hair and it was just too perfect not to wear together.  I love the little mesh tied up part and my daughter loves the skull with pigtails drawing, haha.  Lots of colors available.

Cupssitude and Ennuake

  I have a few things I want to show you today that I love.  I took these pictures a while back but I have had so many computer issues I am just getting to posting them now.  Look how cute I am!

  My skin, scarf and dress are from Cupcakes.  The sim has been redone and it's so gorgeous!  There are new stores all over the sim and the all have items out for 70L or less to celebrate the opening.  The items I am wearing are not part of the sale BUT you can get the mesh scarf in a full pack of three pastel colors for only 50L and you can get this skin in a different makeup, exclusive to the opening event, for only 70L per tone.  I chose to wear this slightly more nude version of the Emilia skin because I just wanted to highlight how lovely the lips and eye are are.  Keep a watch on Cupcakes because they are planning some great things in their quest to reinstate themselves as a top original brand and get out of the template-creator rut.  I can't wait!!

   My boots are from Lassitude & Ennui and are one of the more recent releases.  They are currently at the L'Accessoires event only but I am sure will be released into the main store once that is over.  There are six colors available and each has different sizes so you don't have to worry about if they will fit your legs or not.   here are demos anyway in case you aren't sure. :P

How Do You Afford Your Rock and Roll Lifestyle?

I was talking to someone on Plurk recently about how we are both sort of stuck in the 90's.  It's true, it really is.  I think, to an extent, people tend to have some sort of subconscious preference for a lot of things that were around when they were developing into an adult.  Like, my mom is really fashionable, totally with the times, but I can often see some hint of the 70s in what she likes.  With me, I find myself most excited about things that are from about 1994-2001 or so.  I remember wanting to be Gwen Stefani SO BAD when Tragic Kingdom came out.  I wore plaid pants and tank tops whenever I could for so long, haha.  Even well into high school I would bedazzle my bra straps so when they stuck out they were sparkly like hers were back then.  I totally should still do that. D:

Anyway, these plaid pants from Dilly Dolls reminded me of those times a lot.  I love how they have a curvier shape to them than most brands I have been seeing these days.  They also super pegged on the bottom so you can wear them under boots!  The sizes run a bit weird, like I usually have to wear a small or medium in pants but I wore an extra small with these.  Comes with all sizes though, so woo!  My sweater is the weekly special from Sn@tch and in several collar/cuff texture choices.  Currently 75L per size.  More info. below!

This Is Halloween-ish

Hiiiiiii!  I have some new mesh lovelies and a couple free things and all the awesome sauce for you today.  My dress and boots are both mesh and both from Dilly Dolls, though they are in different places.  The dress is one of the colors available of the new mesh dresses from DD at the Cinema event.  If you haven't been to this event...why not!?  There is really something for everyone.  The boots are a remake of the Sonata boots that I adored when they were first made with sculpts.  This time around you have the ability to use a hud to change the color of every part of the boot.  The stripes can change to one solid color or alternating colors.  You can also change the color of the boot trim and the buttons going up the back of the boot. Then at the Zodiac event is this lovely hair from Alice Project.  It is texture change via hud as most of Alice's hair is.  There is a style with bangs on it available as well.

My skin is a hunt gift from Fierce in the Resting Place event.  The event is like a haunted house/maze/puzzle game and the prizes aren't that easy to find in many cases but the event is great, prizes or not.  My lollipop is from the annual free Halloween treat bucket at Schadenfreude.  Get the bucket for 0L, click it, get yourself some fun stuff!

Why Am I So Sad?

Curious Kitties has this super fly fab CUTE hair for free to group members!  It's black and white!  It doesn't poke into my boobs AND MOVES WITH ME!  Why am I so sad then?  Well, it turns out I have a giant head.  This hair is made using mesh that is "rigged" to the avatar.  Mesh can be used like sculpties (but without certain restrictions that the current sculpties have, making them look much higher quality) and sit on an attachment point like how you would wear hair/shoes/etc. now OR they can be "rigged" to the avatar.  When an item is "rigged" it moves with your avatar, is basically part of your avatar's body.  Then means you can't stretch it or move it to fit your shape.  When I put this hair on it only covered about half of my head LOL.

I am wearing this pouty doll shape from Savoir Faire because it fits the hair's shape perfectly.  I am loving mesh hair enough from this example alone to make me want to squee!  I just hope more in the future will fit my head or come with other head size options.  Sigh forever!!  I might eventually just make a copy of my shape and resize my av's head so I can wear this hair anyway because I am in love with b&w streaked hair.

P.P.S.-Please do not take my writing here as the zomg forever ultimate truths because I am still a super newb when it comes to understanding mesh.  If it weren't for Allergory Malaprop's explanation on Plurk I would still be wondering why I couldn't get my hair to stretch. :P

P.P.P.S.- I want to thank Curious Kitties for putting out this *lovely* free hair (also free mesh dresses, mermaid tail and kitty avatar!) not only because it's gorgeous but also because it gives those of us trying to figure this stuff out something to actually play with instead of just read about.  Thanks so much!

Feeling Fae

Been really lazy with posting lately. I really like this next look though so I guess it was worth the wait. Anyway, I am doing a fairy type post, but seeing as I am not really the floofy, floaty type of person, the look ended up more "fallen angel" than "floating fae."

I took all of these pictures on the Forest Feast sim. I don't take a lot of location shots because frankly my computer can't handle them. I highly suggest anyone reading this go there though and look around at how beautiful it is, don't trust my lackluster background photos because the real place is amazing!!

I am massively in love with this skin from Cupcakes. It is one of the 250L Halloween makeups from the new Daydream line. The parts on Enchanted that were too harsh have been softened on this line, and the parts that were too soft have been sharpened. It's fabulous, I highly recommend picking up one, or two, or a bunch. It should also be mentioned that my computer can't see a lot of local lighting or glow, so some of the plants in the background, as well as the floral wreath I am wearing, have parts or particles that glow that you just can't see here.

Love Thursdays

I have no real clue what a "Love Thursday" is but Isabeau told me a bit about it and I figured I could show some stuff I love this week. I was talking to a pal about our love for system skirts, so I figured I would wear one today! I know a lot of people are so not into the system skirt but I feel it is misunderstood. It is really the only way you can get a sleek skirt look without going the way of the crotch flap. I think A-Bomb does a lot of great system skirt dresses, like the one worn below:

So cute! The dress and shoes are a new release too!. A-Bomb is great for retro and subculutre-embracing styles so you need to check them out now. The shoes are color change, BTW. YAY! I also really love this hair from Vanity Hair. Every time there is a new release she outs a version of it out for 1L in an exclusvie color. Can you beat that? Heck no. I got this style in the exclusive dollarbie color when it came out and had to go back and get the black pack later. it's just too fun. The pocket watch necklace is from another fave of mine, DM Designs. There is something super fun about pocket watches and having it as a necklace is even better. YAY Again!

I also wanted to show another love of mine via face shot close-up. One thing I love is unusual and unique skins. When people think of "unusual" they often think of outrageously off the wall skins with florescent makeups and such; I, on the other hand, think of places like Skin Within who do skins that are made to represent real life looks in such a way that they became against the norm. We all know not everyone has a teeny, tiny slope nose and perfect cat-shaped eyes in real life. Skin Within embraces that and makes skins to fit all ethnicities and races. I am wearing my normal shape with the Amelie skin but when you purchase the skin a different shape is included. These skins are really unique and great for role play or everyday wear.

Note on system skirts:
To make your butt not look gigantic in a system skirt, all you have to do is lower the size of your butt and saddle bags by a few points until you get the level of "flatness" you want. Your shape should either be modifiable or should have included a system skirt shape when you bought it. If your shape is no mod and you don't have a skirt shape I would suggest contacting the creator of the shape to make you a skirt version!

The Happy Widow

She sat in the graveyard, gazing at the sky, hand folded in prayer. Those who saw her on his grave assumed she was praying for his soul's safe journey, for comfort, or even cursing the heavens for taking him away; they were wrong. He was gone and her prayer was a prayer of thanks. She was thankful the poison was strong....and undetectable. She was indeed a happy widow.

Adam N Yum

I would like to introduce you to one of my new fave skins. The face on this Adam N Eve skin is phenomenal. I love it. Yumyumyum. The thing I love most about it is the lips. They actually look like the lips of a kitten-grinned darker-skinned woman. They make any shape look mischievous and ready to pounce! Rawr! The cleavage is fabulous too, but if you don't like huge melons there is the option to not have them of course.

See!?! Look in the close-up! So pretty. Too often when stores make darker skin tones they just slap like a brown color on top of an existing pale skin. Most of the time it doesn't look right. At all. This skin, however, is made with the fact that black women are beautiful too, and shouldn't have to settle for photo sourced skin of a pale white model just tinted darker. Anyway, let's talk about the boots. THE BOOTS! Seriously, some of the best 580L I ever spent, haha! The heel on them is perfectly curved, the textures just look touchable, I want these in RL, kthxbai.

The After Effect

SkinTight has released some really fabulous new skins. Not fabulous as in fluffy pretty, or haute runway, fabulous in a totally new way.

The new AfterGlow line is made to look like you just had a hard and fast quickie. Smudged lipstick, sweaty hair base...

...even carpet burned knees. Ahem. I think this skin can be used for some pretty fun photo shoots and some great role play. Even better, the skin only costs 250L! Sweeeet!!
