A Fair Goth

I have been waiting excitedly for World Goth Fair for what seems like ages.  Now that it's here I am overwhelmed with all the awesome and had a hard time deciding where to start with the blogging!  Ah!  I decided to show something from Paper Moon first because I recently posted an item of theirs from the past Fantasy Faire and this is SO DIFFERENT that I thought it would be fun to show a totally other side of the brand.
This mesh dress comes with different prints on the front, all from classic works of art in a dark, gothic style, and used *legally*, unlike so many other stores who just grab whatever they want from whichever artist they want without permission. (Stares for an uncomfortably long time at the art-snatchers who may be reading this.)  Each dress comes with information about the work of art featured as well, which made me really happy because I loved that little dose of history with my fashion!
My skin is from La Petite Morte at Goth Fair.  This is from the skin line called Ophelia.  There is a version with heavier eye makeup that is a 50% donation item as well.  It seriously feels like just yesterday that this store started making skins, even though it has been a while now, and seeing them just get better and better each release is so exciting!!  My hair is from a newish-to-me store called Due and it's mesh and I love it, even though it didn't fit my bean-shaped head all that well. :P  I did a post on Free*Style with a free hair from there HERE as well.  My necklace is from Draconic Kiss and is also a 50% donation item at Goth Fair.  I am so afraid of spiders in RL (and obviously super afraid of poisonous ones like a black widow!) but in SL they are just fine!
  All details and such below!

Happy Vamps

It has been getting really dark, really early these and I have been thinking that if I was a vampire I would be super happy.  The days are short, the nights are long, they don't have to worry about freezing to death...yeah, it would be good to be a vampire way up north.  Anyway, because of that I decided to do a winter vampire look.  I am wearing the skimpy little fur one-piece outfit from Sakide for Around the World.  A vampire doesn't have to worry about staying warm so could totally rock this skin-baring look, hehe.  The outfit comes with a long-sleeved undershirt and boots as well!  My skin is a gacha item from Essences that you can get at The Deck right now for 150L a pop.  It's very realistic!  It comes with dark brows on it but I used the La Petite Morte eyebrow remover layer on top of it.  I used a set of alpha and prim vampire teeth from A Netherworld on that marketplace for only 75L and some under-eye shadow from my my store to finish the vampire feel.
My hair is from Alice Project for Around the World.  She has NINE new styles out for it.  I am not even joking.  I think the owner needs a nap.  The store is in like all the events ever, haha!  This style is called Yuri and can be used with any of the Alice Project Nova Collection dye huds to get the color you want.
Thanks for reading!

Migraine Blog

CURSES YOU HORRIBLE MIGRAINE!  I SHALL SMITE YOU WITH TYLENOL AND CAFFEINE!  FEEL MY WRATH!  Okay, maybe I am being a bit dramatic but the Festival of Sin includes the sin wrath, am I right?  Well, any excuse to use the angry face emote in SL I guess.  Haha!  One thing I absolutely can't be angry about though is this dress from RezIpsa Loc.  I met RezIpsa a couple of years ago when she sent me a review copy of jeans in her store when she had about 10 items in the whole place.  I loooooved them so much!  Eventually we started chatting a bit and she joined Plurk where I have been able to see all of her releases and watch her grow as an artist and it's been so fun to see the progress.  I really love these lace dresses (they come in a billion colors) though I'll say right now I photoshopped the prim part of the skirt to blend in better for the photo.  It matched well already but my shadows messed the lighting up and it looked crazy in the final photo so I smudged it to make it look prettier. xD  I don't usually PS much of anything so I wanted to put that out there, haha.
My skin is a new release for the Festival of Sin from La Petite Morte.  I'm kind of addicted to finding new skin designers, skins being my biggest shopping weakness since I joined SL, so to find a store like LPM that is making original, basically from scratch, skins that is still fairly unknown is pretty exciting.  The skins have been making the blog rounds lately and I am excited to see other people's photos and really excited to see what the creator comes up with in the future.  My necklace is from Caroline's Jewelry at the Festival and it's just a fun, simple, messy necklace that really fits the "sloth" theme but in the classy style expected of Caroline's.  The hair is from Amacci and...well...it's just so wild and crazy I couldn't NOT blog it.  I'm a sucker for big, crazy hair!
Sorry Kitty for all the Festival of Sin posts. xD  I'll get back to more stuff in normal stores I promise!

The Passion of Winter

Winter time where I live is a pretty horrible thing. It is dark most of the time, it's painfully cold (not unusual to see temps -30 degrees Fahrenheit), the snow is filthy and drab from the passing cars, and the roads become icy and deadly. In SL, however, winter is a thing of beauty.
Putting on a comfy sweater and fluffy boots and walking into a sim with gently falling snow fills me with the feeling of comfort I used to get at the first snow fall of the season, before I became a jaded and cranky adult. Grey skies in SL are an art form and a thing of beauty, where as the constant grey skies up north here in RL winters have literally driven people to madness and worse.
Second Life really does help people get through many issues in their real lives. Some people suffer from crippling anxiety in RL, yet are able to have fulfilling social lives in SL. People with very little pocket money for clothing in RL can have massive wardrobes in SL. Things of extreme winter-themed beauty in SL really do help me get past the growing cabin fever I experience in RL winters. Comfy sweaters like the one from Aqua I am wearing and the boots from Duh! bring a bit of my RL self into my avatar; the amazing 12 Days of Christmas themed branch accessory from ~La Petite Morte~ bring that extra aspect of wonder and fantasy to my avatar that allows me to escape the gloominess of the weather for a short period of time.
Whether you are a gloomy Gus like me, or a total polar bear, I think you can appreciate the wonderful craft work that goes into each and every decent part of SL. This winter while it blizzards outside in the grey day, I will appreciate them all the more.
